Camera, opinions requested

Okay, my tax return arrived, and long story short, im blowing it all very very soon.

Heres the dealio, i need your help.
I have two options for a relatively high end video camera, both are hd with built in hard drives, the sony has a 30 gig hard drive and the option of manual focus, which i like, and is also only $630, but has a CMOS chip system instead of the standard 3 chip rgb standard in most hd camcorders. The other one, a JVC, has a 60 gig hard drive and the 3 chip system but no manual focus, and is also going for 800 bucks. other than that they have literally the same features.
any opinions?

In my humble opinion, if you can get a camera with double the hard-drive for less than 200 dollars more (that also has a standard chip system), that seems like your best option.

However, in order to play devil's advocate: I am a supporter of Sony products and the manual focus is a good option to have, not to mention the non-standard chip system may be superior (you may want to research that). Also, even with a smaller hard drive, removable media can be used to an infinitive extent.

So, depending on the status of the chip system and the price of removable media, the Sony may offer you more. Just a thought.

Ask Rob. He is always into this techno mumbo jumbo. Me? I animate. The camera isn't as important as the image I draw and how it moves.
